According to the legend, Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt, accepts the proposal of Mark Antonius, the famous Roman general, however she rejects leaving Egypt and go somewhere else for their honeymoon.
To prove his everlasting and unique love to his beloved wife Cleopatra, Antonius brings 60 big ships loaded with the special sand from the Red Sea to this beach.
And happy ending, they spend a proverbial honeymoon in this perfect place and make their love become immortal…
The Unique Sands That Are Full of Love
This beach -which is located within the borders of Sedir Island- is strongly protected by the government because of the uniqueness of its sand in order to prevent any of them being removed from the beach to somewhere else.
The uniqueness comes from each grain’s shape of perfect sphere and being smaller than 1 mm. With its famous olive trees growing all around the island, you will feel the Mediterranean culture in every breath you take.
What Can You Expect from This Journey?
The gem of Sedir Island is about a 30-minute drive from Marmaris. The road runs through the countryside to Gallipoli Bay, and we depart on a traditional Turkish wooden boat.

A promoted tourist place, but you can go once. I personally do not believe in the legend of Cleopatra, but the places are fabulously beautiful of course. It is impossible to describe in words what beauty nature itself creates, combining white sand, turquoise sea, mountains and forests.
We went with an excursion from Excursion Market, I liked everything. The girl-guide spoke three languages and gave a short excursion. The beach itself is fenced with sand, you cannot walk along the beach. However, there is an entry into the water from an equipped platform, and at the bottom there is the same amazing soft white sand. The water is clean, warm, in general, heaven on earth!
